The ash land

Muffled roar of cars behind
Proud church stands, silent, blind
The sucking noise beyond me climaxes
	and stops
Leaving the metal monster calmly snoring.

Hidden stars don't try to see
What shadows waltz away from me?

Growl and spit of untamed animal
Clawing between four rocks and a recycling bin
. . Unruly pen jumps far from me
Old man coughs on cue.

The stained glass windows are empty and dull.

Cough, cough, suck, stop, snore
Yawn.
Spikes of trees cut the sky
the wind will rustle them where they lie.

Hidden stars don't try to see
What shadows dance to welcome me?

"Dude it's a trip cuz...."
Wild yellow leaves fall to sleep.
Landlord giggles, baby jingles
Shapes against the building stare
while I brush her light brown hair.
